I have heard that sentiment echoed a lot and originally stopped doing "how to" videos for that reason. However, watching other creators, a lot of them "go viral" or heavily build there base off simple "how to" videos initially. Once bigger, they can go viral off trend surfing or controversial content etc as well.

My how to videos bring me the most subscribers and email subscribers.

I think the logic is that in a how to video they are there for the information not you. The way I approach watching any video or reading any article, I am their first for the information. Then, if they answer my question and I like them I will dig further. Eventually, become a part of their audience, but I never start watching someone because of who they are.

Just my thoughts on this.
